The UMKC School of Law Advocacy Department celebrated its latest successes in mock trial competitions by inviting key sponsors of the program to a private event last week. At the event, Langdon & Emison and two other major sponsors were honored for their part in helping the law school achieve increased law school rankings as well as the trial advocacy team advancing to two consecutive Final Fours.
This UMKC program’s emphasis, “Advocacy in Action,” is committed to training “trial- ready” advocates for the courtroom, board room, appellate courts and beyond. Students gain valuable experience in trial law and practice.
In trial advocacy competitions, the development of trial advocacy skills through mock trial is emphasized. In the last two years, UMKC has advanced to the final rounds of the National Trial Competition and the National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition. UMKC teams have competed in Buffalo, Chicago, St. Paul, Gulfport, San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Louis, Houston, Jefferson City, Seattle, San Francisco, and many other cities across the country.
L&E currently boasts five attorneys within the UMKC alumni ranks: Kent Emison, Mike Manners, Brennan Delaney, and Lindsey Scarcello.
