Langdon & Emison obtained a $5.25 million verdict on behalf of a woman injured in a 2016 head-on collision yesterday afternoon in Dallas County, Missouri. After a four-day trial, the jury awarded $4.25 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages. Langdon & Emison attorneys Mark Emison and Lindsey Scarcello led the legal team in this matter, Knight v. Zey, Case No.: 17BE-CC00008-01.
The crash occurred on Highway 7 in Benton County, Missouri. The plaintiff suffered severe and permanent orthopedic injuries to her leg, ankle, and arm. The plaintiff’s legal team showed that the defendant drove under the influence at the time of the crash and showed a reckless disregard for the safety of others, which justified punitive damages. The verdict also includes damages for past and future medical costs, past and future pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life.
