Rollover Car Accident Basics
More than 10,000 people are killed in vehicle rollover crashes each year. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is an existing technology that minimizes loss of vehicle control and can prevent many rollovers; however, not all vehicles are equipped with ESC and rollovers continue to occur.
Langdon & Emison, one of the nation’s leading auto product liability law firms, brings three decades of experience litigating vehicle rollover cases on behalf of people who have been seriously injured or lost loved ones in accidents. In our experience, two types of vehicle design flaws that commonly contribute to the devastating injuries caused by vehicle rollovers include:
- Faulty design in the suspension of the vehicle.
- Poorly designed roof that crushes on impact.
Further, accidents involving tire failures should not result in rollovers. If, on a sharp turn, the tire deforms and the rim hits the pavement, causing a rollover, there is likely a defect in the overall design of the vehicle.
